Opportunities Abound
This past year it has been so encouraging to see people get involved in volunteering at the church. We celebrated this with a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner this past week and I felt good about saying “Thank You” in a tangible way.
It’s been a pleasant surprise to have a few of you approach me with ideas and/or ask to be involved in certain ways that fit with who you are and how you’d like to serve. Others are preparing to serve in the fall by getting police checks and doing training sessions. My understanding of contribution continues to expand as you offer these suggestions and ideas. Great stuff!
We are figuring out how to pursue this value of contribution further and want to invite your input. Sometimes the church has opportunities for people to serve that you didn’t know about. Other times the church has needs that you’ve identified and are even willing to meet, but we didn’t know about. This week I’m including a questionnaire that is meant to bridge that gap.
I’m inviting each person to take a few minutes to fill out a survey that identifies a variety of ways a person can serve / contribute to the life of our congregation. Give some prayerful consideration as you read through and fill it out. Perhaps you find an opportunity to serve that catches your eye? There is an important section at the bottom that says, “OTHER” and has a space for you to write something in. This is your chance to tell us about something not on the list that you’d be interested in doing.
I want to add a special note for those of you who read our emails and track with our church, but don’t live in Wetaskiwin… there may be things you have to offer or ways you’d like to serve that can be done remotely…we just have never thought about that before. If that’s you, please fill out the form too!
These responses will be so valuable for me and the leadership team to be able to understand how our people want to contribute to what God is doing in and through us. We will aim to understand your answers, needs, hesitations and hope to enable your greater involvement in the autumn.
May the Lord use this activity to further connect us with Him and each other as we honour Jesus.
With Anticipation,
Pastor Nate.
