Your Story…
One of the values we reinforce at our Refuel Dinners is the belief that everybody has something to contribute. Not just in bringing food to the meal, but in showing up as who you are in conversation. Over time relationships grow and we feel safer to share more of ourselves with those around the table.
Some time ago we had a meaningful time of sharing in our Sunday morning service. People were willing to share some prayer requests and stories about what God means to them. These interactions give us a glimpse into the lives of those sitting around us on a regular basis.
This it’s not uncommon for me to get overwhelmed by emotion a few times as I share the Sunday message. I feel the weight of my words as I consider my own story and the many stories of our people in the pews. Many of you have shared some of your stories with me through the years and I’m honoured to be able to walk with you in the highs and lows of life.
My encouragement this week is this: Share your story.
It doesn’t have to be with everyone, but please realize you have something to offer. You are a gift. Your story is a gift. And God’s redemptive engagement with you is a gift that others need to hear about.
Yes, it can be risky. We need to use good discernment, but when we share our stories in the right situations, people resonate with them.
Our stories bring inspiration, ignite motivation, expose compassion, reveal understanding, and allow others to relate to us and to God’s work in our lives. Sharing your stories builds relationships and can give glory to God.
Who might you share part of your story with this week?
Where have you seen God at work?
May your experience God’s grace in a fresh way.
Grace & Peace,
Pastor Nate
